Anak-anak Saul adalah Yonatan Yiswi dan Malkisua Nama kedua anak perempuannya adalah Merab yang tertua dan Mikhal yang lebih muda

Saul berkata kepada Daud Sesungguhnya anakku perempuan yang tertua Merab akan kuberikan menjadi istrimu Hanya jadilah orang yang gagah perkasa bagiku dan lakukanlah peperangan bagi TUHAN Sebab Saul berpikir Jangan tanganku yang melawannya tetapi biarlah tangan orang Filistin yang melakukannya

Akan tetapi ketika tiba waktunya untuk menyerahkan Merab anak perempuan Saul kepada Daud perempuan itu malah diserahkan kepada Adriel orang Mehola menjadi istrinya
