Kemudian Allah mengutus malaikat ke Yerusalem untuk memusnahkannya Ketika malaikat itu akan memusnahkan kota itu TUHAN melihat dan menyesal atas malapetaka itu TUHAN berkata kepada malaikat pemusnah itu Cukup Sekarang turunkan tanganmu Pada saat itu malaikat TUHAN sedang berdiri di dekat tempat pengirikan Ornan orang Yebus

Lalu malaikat TUHAN menyuruh Gad memberitahukan kepada Daud bahwa Daud harus pergi dan mendirikan mazbah bagi TUHAN di tempat pengirikan Ornan orang Yebus itu

Daud datang kepada Ornan dan ketika Ornan memandang dan melihat Daud dia keluar dari tempat pengirikan dan sujud di depan Daud dengan mukanya menghadap tanah

Ornan berkata kepada Daud Ambillah dan biarlah Tuanku Raja melakukan apa yang baik di matanya Lihatlah aku akan memberikan sapi untuk kurban bakaran alat pengirik untuk kayu bakar dan gandum untuk kurban sajian Aku memberikan semuanya

Namun Raja Daud berkata kepada Ornan Tidak aku akan membelinya dengan harga penuh Aku tidak akan mengambil kepunyaanmu untuk TUHAN ataupun mempersembahkan kurban bakaran secara cuma-cuma

Daud memberikan emas seberat enam ratus syikal kepada Ornan untuk membeli tempat itu

Pada waktu itu Daud melihat bahwa TUHAN telah menjawabnya di tempat pengirikan Ornan orang Yebus itu maka dia mempersembahkan kurban di tempat itu
