Raja Rehabeam meminta nasihat dari para tua-tua yang dahulu melayani Salomo ayahnya saat Salomo masih hidup Dia bertanya Apa nasihatmu untuk menjawab rakyat itu

Dia berkata kepada mereka Apa nasihatmu untuk menjawab rakyat itu yang berkata kepadaku Ringankanlah tanggungan yang ayahmu pikulkan kepada kami
