Saat mereka pergi darinya meninggalkannya dengan luka-luka berat pegawai-pegawainya bersekongkol melawan dia karena darah anak Imam Yoyada itu dan membunuh dia di atas tempat tidurnya Yoas mati dan dikuburkan di kota Daud tetapi tidak dikuburkan di pekuburan raja-raja
