Ester tidak memberitahukan tentang kebangsaan dan latar belakang keluarganya karena Mordekhai menyuruhnya agar dia tidak memberitahukan hal itu

Namun dia memandang dirinya hina jika dia hanya mencelakai Mordekhai karena orang telah memberitahukan kebangsaan Mordekhai kepadanya Oleh karena itu Haman berusaha untuk memunahkan semua orang Yahudi yaitu bangsa Mordekhai yang berada di seluruh kerajaan Ahasyweros
