Kota-kota yang harus kamu berikan kepada orang Lewi termasuk enam kota perlindungan Supaya jika ada seorang pembunuh dapat melarikan diri ke sana Selain itu berikanlah pula 42 kota lainnya

Numbers 35:16

Jika dia memukul seseorang hingga mati dengan benda besi dia adalah pembunuh dan dia harus dihukum mati

Jika dia dengan batu di tangan membunuh orang lain dia adalah pembunuh dan dia harus dihukum mati

Jika dia dengan sepotong kayu membunuh orang lain dia adalah pembunuh dan dia harus dihukum mati

Numbers 35:19

Jika seorang penuntut darah bertemu dengan pembunuh itu dia harus membunuhnya

Numbers 35:25

Numbers 35:26

Akan tetapi jika pembunuh itu keluar dari kota perlindungan tempat dia melarikan diri

Numbers 35:30

Yang telah membunuh seseorang harus dihukum mati sebagai pembunuh kalau ada saksi-saksi tetapi hukuman mati tidak cukup hanya dengan satu orang saksi

Numbers 35:31

Jangan menerima uang tebusan sebagai ganti nyawa pembunuh itu sebab dia harus dihukum mati

Deuteronomy 19:3

Deuteronomy 19:6

Maksudnya agar orang yang menuntut balasan darah yang mengejar pembunuh itu dengan hati panas tidak dapat menyusulnya sebab jarak menuju kota itu terlalu jauh supaya dia tidak membunuhnya Sedangkan orang itu tidak patut dihukum mati karena dia tidak membenci kawannya sebelumnya
