Pada hari itu Gideon dinamai Yerubaal sebab kata mereka Biarlah Baal melawan dia karena dialah yang merobohkan mazbahnya

Sekarang jika engkau berbuat setia dan jujur dengan mengangkat Abimelekh menjadi raja dan jika engkau berbuat baik kepada Yerubaal dan keturunannya dan jika perbuatanmu sesuai dengan perbuatannya

Jika kamu berbuat setia dan jujur terhadap Yerubaal dan keturunannya pada hari ini bergembiralah karena Abimelekh dan biarlah dia juga bergembira karena kamu

Kekerasan terhadap ketujuh puluh anak Yerubaal pun dibalaskan Darah mereka ditanggungkan atas Abimelekh yang membunuh saudara-saudaranya dan atas penduduk Sikhem yang membantu dia membunuh saudara-saudaranya itu

Gaal anak Ebed berkata Siapakah Abimelekh dan siapakah orang Sikhem sehingga kita harus melayaninya Bukankah dia anak Yerubaal dan Zebul wakilnya Layanilah orang-orang Hemor ayah Sikhem Mengapa kita harus melayaninya

Segala kejahatan orang-orang Sikhem pun dibalaskan Allah kepada kepala mereka sendiri sehingga kutuk Yotam anak Yerubaal menimpa mereka
