Tolong katakan kepada seluruh penduduk Sikhem Manakah yang lebih baik bagimu tujuh puluh orang memerintah kamu yaitu semua anak Yerubaal atau seorang saja Ingatlah bahwa aku adalah darah dagingmu

Seluruh penduduk Sikhem dan seluruh Bet-Milo berkumpul Mereka pergi menobatkan Abimelekh menjadi raja di dekat pohon Tarbantin di tugu peringatan yang berada di Sikhem

Ketika Yotam mendengar hal itu dia pergi dan berdiri di puncak Gunung Gerizim Dengan suara nyaring dia berseru Dengarkanlah aku penduduk Sikhem maka Allah akan mendengarkan kamu

Akan tetapi pada hari ini engkau bangkit melawan keturunan ayahku dan membunuh ketujuh puluh anaknya di atas satu batu dan mengangkat Abimelekh anak hamba perempuannya menjadi raja atas penduduk Sikhem karena dia saudaramu
