Daud memperhatikan kata-kata itu dan hatinya menjadi takut sekali terhadap Akhis raja Gat itu

Daud bangkit dan menyeberang dia dan enam ratus orang yang menyertainya kepada Akhis anak Maokh raja Gat

Daud berkata kepada Akhis Jika sekarang aku mendapat belas kasihan dalam pandanganmu berikanlah tempat kepadaku di salah satu kota di daerahmu supaya aku dapat tinggal di sana Mengapa hambamu ini tinggal di kota kerajaan ini bersamamu

Daud mengalahkan negeri itu dan tidak membiarkan seorang pun hidup baik laki-laki maupun perempuan Dia mengambil domba sapi keledai unta dan pakaian Lalu dia pulang kembali kepada Akhis

Daud berkata kepada Akhis Akan tetapi apa yang telah aku lakukan Apa yang kaudapati pada hambamu ini sejak hari ketika aku menjadi hambamu sampai hari ini sehingga aku tidak boleh pergi berperang melawan musuh tuanku raja

Akhis menjawab Daud Aku tahu sesungguhnya kamu baik dalam pandanganku seperti malaikat Allah Akan tetapi para panglima orang Filistin berkata Dia tidak boleh pergi berperang bersama kita

Namun sesudah lewat tiga tahun dua orang hamba Simei berlari kepada Akhis anak Maakha raja Gat Saat mereka memberitahukan kepada Simei katanya Lihatlah hamba-hambamu berada di Gat
