Dia akan menyerahkan Israel karena dosa-dosa Yerobeam yang telah dilakukannya dan yang menyebabkan orang Israel berdosa

1 Kings 16:2

Karena Aku yang telah meninggikan kamu dari debu dan mengangkatmu sebagai pemimpin atas umat-Ku Israel tetapi kamu hidup di jalan Yerobeam dan menyebabkan umat-Ku Israel berdosa sehingga membangkitkan murka-Ku dengan dosa-dosa mereka

Dia melakukan apa yang jahat di mata TUHAN dan mengikuti dosa Yerobeam anak Nebat yang menyebabkan orang Israel berdosa serta dia belum berbalik dari dosanya

Bahkan mazbah yang berada di Betel yaitu bukit pengurbanan yang telah dibuat oleh Yerobeam anak Nebat yang telah menyebabkan orang Israel berdosa baik mazbah maupun bukit pengurbanannya telah dia robohkan Kemudian dia membakar bukit pengurbanan itu melumatkannya menjadi abu dan membakar patung-patung Dewi Asyera
