Benhadad raja Aram mengumpulkan seluruh tentaranya Ada 32 raja yang menyertainya dengan kuda-kuda dan kereta-kereta Dia naik dan mengepung Samaria dan berperang melawannya

Oleh sebab itu dia berkata kepada utusan-utusan Benhadad Katakanlah kepada Tuanku Raja Semua yang pertama kali engkau tuntut dari hambamu ini aku akan melakukannya tetapi perkataan yang ini aku tidak dapat lakukan Utusan-utusan itu pergi dan mengembalikan jawaban itu kepadanya

Benhadad mengutus orang kepadanya dan berkata Beginilah yang akan para ilah lakukan kepadaku dan beginilah mereka akan menambahkannya jika segenggam debu tanah Samaria cukup untuk seluruh rakyat yang mengikutiku
