TUHAN berfirman kepadanya Pergilah kembalilah ke jalanmu ke padang gurun Damsyik Setelah kamu tiba urapilah Hazael sebagai raja atas Aram

Hazael pergi untuk menjumpainya dengan membawa persembahan di tangannya berupa semua barang berharga dari Damsyik yang dibebankan kepada empat puluh ekor unta Dia sampai lalu berdiri di hadapan Elisa dengan berkata Anakmu Benhadad Raja Aram menyuruhku menghadapmu untuk bertanya Apakah aku akan sembuh dari penyakit ini

Hazael bertanya Mengapa Tuanku menangis Jawabnya Sebab aku mengetahui malapetaka apa yang akan kamu perbuat terhadap orang Israel benteng-bentengnya akan kamu campakkan ke dalam api pemuda-pemudanya akan kamu bunuh dengan pedang bayi-bayinya akan kamu remukkan dan perempuan-perempuannya yang mengandung akan kamu belah

Hazael berkata Namun apakah hambamu ini selain dari pada anjing sehingga dapat melakukan hal yang hebat itu Elisa menjawab TUHAN telah memperlihatkan kepadaku bahwa kamu akan menjadi raja atas Aram

Sesudah itu keesokan harinya dia mengambil selimut yang telah dicelupkannya ke dalam air lalu membentangkannya ke atas wajah Benhadad sehingga dia mati Lalu Hazael menjadi raja untuk menggantikannya

Yehu anak Yosafat anak Nimsi mengadakan persepakatan untuk melawan Yoram Saat itu Yoram sedang berjaga-jaga di Ramot-Gilead demikian juga seluruh Israel untuk menghadapi Hazael raja Aram
