Saat dia mendengar perkataan ini Benhadad sedang minum-minum dengan raja-raja di pondok lalu dia berkata kepada para pegawainya Aturlah barisan dan mereka mengatur barisan untuk melawan kota itu

Sesudah itu keesokan harinya dia mengambil selimut yang telah dicelupkannya ke dalam air lalu membentangkannya ke atas wajah Benhadad sehingga dia mati Lalu Hazael menjadi raja untuk menggantikannya
