Setelah peristiwa-peristiwa ini Nabot orang Yizreel memiliki kebun anggur yang berada di Yizreel di samping istana Ahab raja Samaria

Ahab berkata kepada Nabot katanya Berikanlah kepadaku kebun anggurmu supaya menjadi kebun sayur untukku karena kebun itu dekat di samping istanaku dan aku akan memberikan kepadamu sebagai gantinya kebun anggur yang lebih baik daripada itu atau jika itu baik di matamu aku akan memberikan perak sebagai harga atasnya

Namun Nabot menjawab Ahab Demi TUHAN pantang bagiku untuk memberikan milik pusaka nenek moyangku kepadamu

Ahab datang ke istananya dengan kesal dan geram atas perkataan yang Nabot orang Yizreel jawab kepadanya katanya Aku tidak akan memberikan kepadamu milik pusaka nenek moyangku Lalu dia berbaring di tempat tidurnya dan memalingkan wajahnya serta tidak mau makan roti

Dia menjawab kepadanya Sebab aku telah berkata kepada Nabot orang Yizreel kataku Berikanlah kepadaku kebun anggurmu dengan perak atau jika kamu lebih suka aku akan memberikan kepadamu kebun anggur sebagai gantinya Namun dia berkata Aku tidak akan memberikan kepadamu kebun anggurku itu

Izebel istrinya berkata kepadanya Bukankah engkau sekarang memerintah sebagai raja atas Israel Bangun makanlah roti dan biarlah hatimu bergembira Aku akan memberikan kepadamu kebun anggur Nabot orang Yizreel itu

Kemudian dia menulis banyak surat atas nama Ahab dan memeteraikan mereka dengan meterai raja serta mengirim surat-surat itu kepada para tua-tua dan kepada para pemuka yang tinggal sekota dengan Nabot

Dua orang keturunan orang dursila datang dan duduk di hadapan Nabot Orang-orang dursila itu bersaksi melawan dia yaitu Nabot di depan rakyat dengan berkata Nabot telah mengutuki Allah dan raja Mereka membawanya ke luar kota dan melemparinya dengan batu sampai mati

Saat Izebel mendengar bahwa Nabot sudah dilempari dengan batu sampai mati Izebel berkata kepada Ahab Bangunlah milikilah kebun anggur Nabot orang Yizreel itu yang telah menolak untuk memberikan kepadamu dengan bayaran perak karena Nabot tidak lagi hidup dia sudah mati

Sesungguhnya Aku telah melihat darah Nabot dan darah anak-anaknya tadi malam firman TUHAN dan Aku akan mengadakan pembalasan terhadapnya di kebun ini firman TUHAN Oleh sebab itu angkat dan lemparkan dia ke kebun ini sesuai dengan firman TUHAN
